Daughters
of the Major
Superior: Diocesan
Location In 1924, in the Midst of religious persecution in Mexico, the Congregation of the Daughters of the Holy Spirit was founded to teach, and to encourage priestly vocations. In 1988, Bishop Glennon Flavin invited the Superior General of the Daughters of the Holy Spirit to establish a convent in Lincoln and work with the Hispanic Community. His priorities of priestly vocations and Catholic schools fit the mission of the Congregation. The Sisters lived in the Bishop's former residence on Randolph Street for eight years. Later, they moved to the Hispanic area of Lincoln. Since coming, the Sisters have noted the growth and maturation of the Hispanic community. Taken
