World Youth Day

wyd2008.org
(official World Youth Day site)

Since 1985, Pope John Paul II has invited the world's youth to meet with him in alternating years for catechesis, worship, and renewal. Numerous pilgrims from the Lincoln Diocese participated in World Youth Day (WYD) 1993 Denver, WYD 1997 in Paris, WYD 2000 in Rome and WYD 2002 in Toronto. Father Robert Barnhill (1993, 1997), Father Matthew Eickhoff (1993, 1997), Joel and Dee Thomas (1997), Melissa Lucas (2000, 2002), and Ken Swindell (2002) coordinated the pilgrimages.

The 21th World Youth Day is set for July 6-21, 2008 in New Zealand and Australia.
