| In 1996,
Systematic Integral New Evangelization (SINE) was brought to our diocese
as a pastoral plan - a model for evangelization in parish life. This plan
originated in Mexico with Fr. Alphonso Navarro and is designed to develop
a vibrant, active parish through small faith sharing communities. Bringing
individuals to a closer, personal relationship with the Lord leads them
to a more active faith and apostleship. We are charged with a common mission
that Christ has set forth. SINE helps us to recognize that Christ has
a job for each of us and to determine what His will is for us. It calls
us to listen through prayer and to do His work through mission. There are currently 63 parishes in the diocese that have implemented SINE parish retreats and small faith sharing communities. More than 2,800 laity have participated in parish retreats. The SINE pastoral plan is not a movement in the Church, but a parish model that shows us how to become an active evangelizing community. Monsignor Myron
Pleskac of St. Joseph's (Lincoln) is the Spiritual Advisor and a SINE
Diocesan Board member. Carolyn May is the Diocesan Coordinator for Light of the World. If you have any questions please contact her at (402) 792-3030 or at (402)
