Special Collections
The Parishes of the Diocese of Lincoln take up a second or special collection for a number of Diocesan, National and International programs. You can find out more information and the exact dates from your parish.
Catholic Press in February – supports the subscriptions by each parish to the
Southern Nebraska Register.
Combined Collection in March – includes the American Bishops' Overseas Appeal/CRS, Catholic Home Missions Appeal, Black and Indian Collection, Catholic University of America, Catholic Communications Campaign, and Retirement Fund for Religious.
Holy Land Collection on Good Friday – supports the Franciscan Foundation for the Holy Land
Charity and Stewardship Appeal in May – annual appeal to support over 18 diocesan-wide programs and services.
Mission Cooperative Collection during summer – a missionary priest visits each parish to make an Appeal for his Missionary Diocese or Religious Order.
Peter's Pence in June – supports the Holy Father in his worldwide charitable outreach.
Contemplative Sisters in July (in Lincoln), November (outside Lincoln) – to support the cloistered Carmelite Sisters near Agnew and the Holy Spirit Adoration Sisters in Lincoln.
Bishop's Lay Committee for Vocations in September – pays for the cost of educating our seminarians as they study to become the future priests.
World Mission Sunday in October – supports the Society for the Propagation of the Faith and the Church’s world-wide missionary effort.
Optional collections—those each pastor may decide for his parish: Latin America Collection in January; Aid for the Church in Eastern Europe on Ash Wednesday; Rice Bowl during Lent; and Priest Retirement at Christmas.
