Marriage and Family Programs
Through the Family Life Office, the Diocese of Lincoln coordinates programs for marriage preparation, marriage enrichment,
and chastity education, as well as offering Natural Family Planning classes for engaged and married couples. Please note that non-Catholics will feel welcome to take part in these programs as well.
FertilityCare Center - Diocese of Lincoln - The Creighton Model-Ovulation Method of Natural Family Planning (NFP) for those wishing to learn this positive approach to family planning. A Group Introductory Sessions (mandatory for engaged couples) and full NFP
course of individual follow-up sessions are offered.
Engaged Encounter is a weekend retreat with other engaged couples providing talks, discussions and time alone together to plan for a sacramental marriage. Engaged Encounter (required for all couples preparing to marry in the Lincoln Diocese) helps couples on topics such as honesty and
openness in relationships, sexuality, the Sacrament, and NFP.
Catholic Marriage P.R.E.P. aims at enhancing a couple's relationship by teaching effective communication skills. Open to all couples, P.R.E.P. is required for those preparing for a convalidation of their civil marriage, who are preparing to enter a second marriage, or who are advanced in years, and are not planning to attend an Engaged Encounter weekend.
Marriage Encounter offers enrichment weekends for couples to grow in loving communication, a program of Worldwide Marriage Encounter.
Retrouvaille is a program to help couples with marital problems to heal and renew their marriages. A weekend experience with follow-up sessions for troubled marriages, helping rebuild loving relationships.
Chastity Education Programs:- Mother-Daughters and Father-Sons programs for pre-teens explore God's special gift of human sexuality and fertility. Programs also available for schools or CCD programs.
Wedding Anniversary Mass and Reception - This annual Mass and celebration is held at the Cathedral of the Risen Christ. The bishop recognizes those married 25, 40 or 50 years and more. A reception follows the Mass and renewal of vows.
